Russia Launches Nearly 1,000 Drones in Record-Breaking Two-Day Assault on Ukraine.
Massive Russian Offensive Strikes Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Over the course of March 23 and 24, Russia carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine, deploying close to a thousand unmanned aerial vehicles of various types. These strikes resulted in casualties, including children, and caused destruction across multiple cities. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted a significant number of the drones, but the assaults still inflicted damage.
On March 23 alone, Russia launched 556 attack drones against Ukraine. From the evening of March 23 through the evening of March 24, Russian forces employed nearly a thousand drones in total. On March 24, Ukrainian airspace again came under threat as Russia fired over 500 drones. These unmanned aircraft entered Ukraine from several directions, including via the Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
“These were just two of the routes; in total, there were seven such paths,” stated Yurii Ihnat.
Destructive Consequences of the Attacks
The strikes hit multiple cities, including Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, and Ternopil. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, more than 40 people were injured, among them children. The attacks also resulted in fatalities and severe injuries. One Russian drone crashed into an apartment building in Dnipro, sparking a fire.
“15 drones reached their targets,” added Yurii Ihnat, emphasizing the significant threat posed by such assaults.
This wave of drone attacks demonstrates a new level of aggression from Russia, demanding appropriate responses from both Ukraine and the international community.
These events highlight an escalation in hostilities in Ukraine, particularly through the use of advanced technologies like drones, which is reshaping the nature of the conflict. Strikes on civilian infrastructure raise serious concerns not only for the safety of citizens but also for the overall stability of the region. It is crucial for the international community to respond to these threats by providing Ukraine with the necessary support and assistance.
