Maria Burmaka on Language Aggression: Why Gentle Ukrainization Doesn't Work.

She noted that, despite the war and the desire to switch to the Ukrainian language, some people, including journalists and musicians, remain loyal to the Russian language.

The Artist's Statements on Tolerance

'I quite often found myself being the only Ukrainian-speaking person among musicians and I got used to being tolerant, but the realities showed the opposite. It turned out that our 'gentle Ukrainization' is far too gentle, while the Russian-speaking side remains aggressive and impudent.'

Maria also expressed concern about arguments in favor of the Russian language, which, in her opinion, are baseless. She emphasized that the Russian language reflects the influence of Russia, and this issue cannot be ignored.

Disappointment Due to Disregard for the Ukrainian Language

When two women did not respond to her request to communicate in Ukrainian, Maria felt disappointment. Although she tried to explain the importance of her native language, she found no response.
