The Ministry of Defense has delivered 5600 drones to the front through an online store: how the system works

According to inkorr.com: During the month of operation, through the IT system DOT-Chain Defence from the 'State Logistics Operator' of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, 5,600 drones were delivered to the frontline with a total value of 216 million UAH.

'DOT-Chain Defence has become a platform where combat brigades can directly order various types of UAVs. Currently, 12 brigades from the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Kharkiv directions are involved in the project. We are working on scaling and developing the marketplace. We have a specific goal - to create a platform that helps our defenders receive everything they need on time and in sufficient quantity,' said the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.

The Ministry of Defense explained that this IT system works like an online store. However, instead of products such as phones or household appliances, military personnel can choose drones purchased with funding from the 'Defense Procurement Agency' of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Achievements of the system

Since its launch on July 31, the system has achieved the following results:

  • The supply cycle has reduced more than 5 times - from several months to several days.
  • The average delivery time is up to two weeks, and the record delivery occurred in 5 days from the moment of order to receipt at the frontline.
  • Choice capability. Military personnel can choose the drones that suit them best. Currently, 151 models of drones are available in the system.
  • Active engagement of drone manufacturers. The marketplace already features products from 25 companies.
  • Expansion of the range. In addition to FPV drones, bombing drones, including heavy models, have been added. The delivery speed of this type of drones was 12 days.
  • Growth in order volumes. In total, the military has ordered over 11,000 drones worth 397 million UAH.
'To further improve DOT-Chain Defence, representatives of the APU and DOT made three trips to the combat zone, where they communicated live with the military about the operation of the weapons marketplace. In response to their requests, work is already underway to scale the system to attract new brigades and expand the range of available equipment: other types of UAVs, EW/RE systems, ground robotic complexes, and drops,' noted the Ministry of Defense.

Thus, the IT system DOT-Chain Defence demonstrates efficiency by providing the military with the ability to order drones directly online. The system has significantly reduced supply times and expanded the range of equipment thanks to cooperation with various unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturers. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is actively working on improving the system for the rapid provision of everything necessary to the military.
