Musk may not gain access to certain SpaceX secrets - WSJ.
SpaceX has received advice from its lawyers not to attempt to gain access to classified information regarding the deployment of spacecraft for the U.S. military and intelligence services for its founder Elon Musk. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
“The payloads that SpaceX launches for the American military and intelligence agencies are state secrets and are accessible only to selected company employees who have clearance to classified information,” the publication notes.
According to The Wall Street Journal, SpaceX lawyers advised against attempting to grant one of its founders, Elon Musk, access to classified information regarding the deployment of spacecraft for U.S. military and intelligence services. This is due to the fact that he does not have permission to work with such information and has been requesting company leadership for several years not to require such a permit.
However, the reason for this warning is the necessity to answer Musk's questions regarding his connections with foreigners and drug use. There is a possibility that Musk may inadvertently disclose classified information in the presence of foreign officials with whom he communicates.
According to the report, it took Musk several years to obtain the current clearance to access the company’s confidential information after publicly using drugs during a podcast released in 2018.
Previously, billionaire Elon Musk stated that the U.S. faces danger if the country cannot reduce the budget deficit. The federal deficit for the fiscal year 2024 is projected to be $1.83 trillion, which is $38 billion more than in the fiscal year 2023, reported the U.S. Treasury.
