Massive Shahed Drone Strike Hits Odesa: Residential Areas and Infrastructure Damaged.
Initial Fallout from the Odesa Shelling on the Night of March 28
According to Novyny.live: On March 28, Russian forces launched a drone attack on Odesa, causing significant damage to residential buildings and public infrastructure. The assault occurred overnight into March 28, with explosions heard for at least half an hour. Reports on casualties are still being confirmed.
This large-scale Shahed drone assault on the city has had severe repercussions for local residents. Serhiy Lysak stated:
“Preliminary reports indicate damage to housing and infrastructure.”Notably, just days earlier, on March 23, Russian forces struck a public transport stop in the Odesa region, injuring two people. That same night, an attack also targeted the outskirts of Odesa.
Pattern of Strikes on Civilian Infrastructure
This attack on Odesa fits into a broader Russian strategy of targeting civilian infrastructure to destabilize the country. Such strikes on residential neighborhoods and public spaces endanger the lives of civilians and raise serious safety concerns across the region. The continuation of these attacks risks deepening Ukraine’s humanitarian crisis and increasing international pressure on Russia.
