One of the group’s commanders, Jokhar Krym, described in an interview how Atesh is fighting for its homeland. The rebels provide vital information to Ukrainian spies, monitoring the movements of Russian troops.
Activities of the Rebels
Atesh, which translates from Crimean Tatar as 'fire', conducts numerous operations, including arson of Russian military positions and preparing weapons caches for an upcoming uprising.
Many of them want to do something to help Ukraine in the struggle against occupation, even if just by 1%

The Atesh group has a network of agents working in Crimea and other occupied territories, gathering information about the movement of Russian troops and providing coordinates for strikes by the Ukrainian army.
Cooperation with Ukrainian Forces
Jokhar noted that Atesh coordinates with Ukrainian forces to carry out strikes on Russian bases. Specifically, they participated in a successful attack on a Russian military base where 10 ships were destroyed along with key infrastructure.

Atesh also uses arson as a method of sabotage. Jokhar explained that they can be considered a simple way to destabilize Russian military positions.
Sabotage Strategies
The group operates cautiously, trying to avoid Russian security systems. Jokhar emphasized that the safety of agents is a priority, and they receive guidelines on actions in case of danger.
Atesh is not only involved in violence. Their civilian group seeks to win the sympathies of local residents through the distribution of propaganda against Putin.

Jokhar summarized that even if peace is established, Atesh does not plan to stop its struggle. The group consists not only of Ukrainians but also of Crimean Tatars, who are actively participating in the fight against occupation.
The situation in Crimea remains tense, and the activities of the Atesh group are an important part of the resistance against Russian aggression. This movement may influence the course of events in the region, particularly regarding stability and security for local residents.
