The mechanic named popular used cars that are not worth buying.
'Popular' does not always mean 'reliable', especially when it comes to purchasing a used car. Among well-known models, there are those that may hide problems that later turn into expensive repairs, low performance, or a low resale value.
Sales and marketing director of CFR Classic Joe Giiranda talked about 'unpopular' cars that are better not to pay attention to.
Jeep Grand Cherokee (2011–2014)
'Even Grand Cherokees, which are so popular, have serious problems with transmission and engine', – noted Giiranda.
He also noted that this car often faces electrical issues that are common in models from 2011 to 2014.
Nissan Juke (2011–2017)
This crossover may impress with its unconventional design, but it turns out to be not very practical on the road.
'The lack of a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which often requires significant repair costs, and limited headroom, combined with a low resale value, make owning this car not the best choice', – emphasized the chief mechanic.
Smart ForTwo (2008–2015)
'ForTwo can be easily parked thanks to its compact size. But due to its slow acceleration, lack of many safety systems, and unstable ride, this model remains impractical', – he added.
In addition, Giiranda noted that high maintenance costs also make the Smart ForTwo not a very profitable option.
According to the expert's opinions, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Juke, and Smart ForTwo vehicles manufactured in the specified years may have serious issues with transmission, engine, electrical systems, and other complexities that can significantly increase maintenance, repair costs, and reduce resale value. Thus, purchasing such cars requires a more cautious approach and careful analysis before making a deal.
