Ministry of Health denies data leak of 20 million Ukrainians from Diia

According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Health has denied the information about a possible data leak affecting about 20 million Ukrainians from the 'Diia' program. As reported by 'Khvylia', this has been confirmed through the ministry's press service. The department noted that the files circulating are fake and have no relation to the 'Diia' system; this is not a result of hacking or a leak.

“After the report of a possible 'leak', our team conducted an investigation and established: the circulating files are forgeries and do not originate from the 'Diia' systems and are not a result of their hacking or leak. Specifically - the published files are a mixture of previously known 'leaks' from commercial sources, which have been manually edited and supplemented with forged entries to make them appear as a 'fresh' database,” the message states.

The ministry added that this is advertising for the black market, as old leaks 'illuminate' with fake data to look like new mass leaks and mislead people. The Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for Cybersecurity and Cloud Technologies, Vitaliy Balashov, stated that the Ministry of Health considers the spread of fake files as a targeted attack on the 'Diia' program and an attempt to undermine trust in state services.

“Once again, we emphasize that 'Diia' does not store personal data - the system operates on a data-in-transit principle: information is retrieved from state registries at the time of request and is not accumulated in the application or on the portal. To prove this - in March 2024, the code of the 'Diia' program was published. It is available for review, and anyone can verify that there are no hidden databases with citizens' information,” Balashov emphasized.

The Ministry of Health has denied the possibility of data leakage from the 'Diia' program affecting 20 million Ukrainians, calling the circulated files forgeries. They emphasized that this situation is an attempt at disinformation through manufactured false information. It was also noted that the 'Diia' program does not store personal information and operates exclusively with instant access to state registries.

This case highlights the importance of providing accurate information and combating disinformation, especially in the context of digital services that are becoming increasingly prevalent. The Ministry urged the public to remain vigilant and rely on verified sources of information to avoid manipulation.
