The Ministry of Defense approved a lightweight body armor model: main characteristics.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved a sample-standard of lightweight body armor for protecting vital organs during combat operations. The press service of the Ministry of Defense reports this.

According to the report, the lightweight body armor has main and additional elements.

The main kit includes:

• frontal cover with soft and hard armor element;
• frontal cover with a soft ballistic element and hard armor element with shoulder pads;
• cummerbund (analogy with "skeleton" system);
• side covers with a soft ballistic element;
• cover for intestinal protection in the form of a bag with a soft ballistic element.

Additional elements of the kit:

• neck protection;
• shoulder protection;
• groin protection;
• load-bearing tactical belt;
• coccyx protection;
• hip protection;
• inner thigh protection;
• design solution for female military personnel;
• buoyancy element.

The Ministry of Defense notes that all additional elements have soft ballistic protection. The body armor is available in sizes S, M, L, and XL. The weight depends on size and configuration and ranges from 7.5 to 12 kg.

Recall that testing of the new lightweight body armor for Ukrainian military personnel began in July.

Earlier, Ukraine certified the first body armor for female military personnel after two stages of testing.
