According to ТСН: During the war, a real diplomatic process towards peace is only possible under two conditions: either the complete defeat or capitulation of one side or the complete exhaustion of the armies, when neither is able to advance, and the front line remains unchanged.

This opinion was expressed by the commander of the 429th Separate Drone Systems Regiment 'Achilles' Yuriy Fedorenko in an interview with News.LIVE.

Conditions for diplomatic negotiations

The military explained under what circumstances negotiations for the cessation of hostilities may begin.

When can peace agreements be reached? When one side has lost the ability to defend, and the other side has conquered it. This is called capitulation, but it still ends with consolidation and the signing of certain documents. Alternatively, the situation is different: one side has not lost the ability to defend, while the other side has lost the ability to conduct active offensive operations. Then the war stops at certain lines due to the inability of either side to assault. However, one side can defend itself, and the other can engage in positional warfare, but not advance. That is when diplomats start to speak,
said Fedorenko.

He also noted that in this case, opportunities for a diplomatic resolution of the conflict arise.

The situation at the front

According to the commander of 'Achilles', Ukraine has not lost its defensive capabilities, while Russia still retains the ability to advance.

What should be the seed from which the negotiation process sprouts and hostilities cease? I do not see it. Therefore, everything that is happening regarding peace negotiations is aimed at one thing — Putin wants to continue military operations, advance along the front line, strike deep into our territory, and terrorize people. The enemy is currently continuing to launch strikes, assault along the line of combat contact, and during this time talking about the peace process,’
emphasized Fedorenko.

He is confident that Russian President Vladimir Putin acts to avoid new sanctions from the U.S. and the European Union, as well as to prevent Washington from providing Ukraine with weapons that could significantly influence the outcomes of hostilities, such as Tomahawk missiles.

Moreover, the Ukrainian delegation headed by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Gnatov held three-day negotiations in Florida with special envoys from the U.S. and advisers from Europe. The main topic of discussions was measures to implement the 20-point plan, prepare security guarantees from the U.S., and develop a strategy for economic recovery. The priority of the meetings was to achieve a just peace.

In the current situation, it is important to actively reach diplomatic solutions that can stop active hostilities and ensure peace. Negotiations between Ukraine and international partners can play a decisive role in shaping the future course of events and establishing stability in the region.
