Vitkoff's phone call with Ushakov

According to ТСН: Special representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, Steve Vitkoff, had a brief phone conversation with Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin's chief adviser on foreign policy. During the conversation, Vitkoff provided recommendations on how Moscow should offer Trump a plan for Ukraine.

According to information, this dialogue took place in October 2025, after the "successful resolution of the conflict in Gaza." He advised Putin to call Trump before the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House and congratulate him on the agreement in Gaza. This conversation became important before the launch of the 28-point peace plan that the U.S. offers Ukraine as a basis for further negotiations.

After this, Putin and Trump had a two-hour conversation, which both acknowledged as productive. Vitkoff also met with other Kremlin advisers in the U.S. to discuss the details.

The plan and conditions of the meeting

U.S. President Donald Trump has already explained under what conditions he is ready to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky. In particular, Trump noted that the original draft of the U.S. "peace plan" with 28 points has been revised with input from both sides.

This phone call and further meetings indicate an intensification of diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine. U.S. involvement in the development of the peace plan could be an important step toward achieving stability in the region, but the effectiveness of these initiatives will depend on the willingness of all parties to make compromises.
