According to Korrespondent.net: Mitsubishi has presented a new version of the Triton pickup with an updated front end, but the changes have affected only one modification and one market. This version is called Triton Street, which is available exclusively in Thailand and is basically a precursor to the upcoming facelift of the model.

Main characteristics of the modification

Triton Street is built on the Mega Cab body style, which is positioned between the Single Cab and Double Cab. The main visual change is a new front end with an updated grille. The design looks more aggressive: the front features a massive black protective cover and modified air intakes in the bumper. However, the base Street version uses halogen headlights and lacks fog lights.

Design and technical features

This modification is designed for operation on paved roads and has a standard ground clearance, as well as new 17-inch black alloy wheels. The color palette is limited to three shades: Solid White, Blade Silver, and Graphite Gray, which blend well with the black decorative elements.

From a technical perspective, there are no significant changes. Under the hood, the Triton Street is equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel producing 148 hp with a torque of 330 Nm. Mitsubishi decided to use the basic engine instead of the more powerful 181 hp option available in the more expensive trims. The engine works exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. There is no all-wheel drive, but there is an active limited-slip differential that redistributes the torque between the wheels using the braking system.

Equipment and price

The equipment is also quite modest: fabric interior, three airbags, a two-speaker audio system, hill start assist, automatic emergency braking system before an obstacle, and a 10-inch multimedia screen. The Triton Street is already available in Thailand, starting at 649,000 baht, which is approximately $20,700.

Future of the model

It is still unknown whether the new front design will be implemented in other Triton versions as part of a full-fledged facelift or will remain a local experiment for Thailand. Since this generation of the Triton debuted in 2023, a mid-cycle update may appear around 2027.

It is worth noting that it was previously reported that Mitsubishi presented a futuristic concept of a new crossover.

The new Triton Street version emphasizes Mitsubishi's commitment to refining its models for market needs. This pickup, developed specifically for the desires of the Thai consumer, could serve as a foundation for further changes in the global Triton lineup. It is important to observe how the new solutions will affect future versions of the model and whether they will resonate with buyers in other countries.
