According to TSN.ua: Moldova's General Inspectorate for Migration has issued a warning to Ukrainian refugees about a fraudulent website, protectietemporara.md, which offers paid extensions for temporary protection. Authorities have confirmed that the official extension procedure is completely free and has no connection to any government body.

Temporary Protection and Refugee Challenges

The EU's Temporary Protection Directive for Ukrainian citizens was activated on March 4, 2022. This protection can last until March 2027, offering Ukrainians a degree of safety while war continues in their homeland. Applications for extension should be submitted through the official Moldovan migration website, igm.gov.md, to avoid falling victim to scams.

According to the Centre for Economic Strategy, while 75% of Ukrainian refugees planned to return home in 2022, only 43% currently maintain that intention. This shift in sentiment likely reflects the prolonged nature of the conflict and ongoing uncertainty in Ukraine.

Separately, Ukrainian refugees in Germany face new challenges, including fines for using cars with Ukrainian license plates.
