According to The Sun: The mother of the British woman who received a life sentence in Dubai is experiencing great grief upon learning about her daughter's fate.
Mia O'Brien, 23 years old, is currently being held in Al-Awir prison, once referred to as Dubai's version of Alcatraz.
Mia is serving life imprisonment in one of Dubai's toughest prisonsThe family has not yet specified what exactly Mia is being accused of, who was born in Liverpool.

Mia's mother, Daniel McKenna, 46 years old, reported her daughter's difficult condition through a campaign on GoFundMe.
“Mia has received a life sentence in Dubai and is currently in a central prison. As her mother, I am absolutely devastated,” she wrote.
“She is only 23 years old, and she has never committed a crime in her life. This young girl started studying at university in law, but unfortunately fell under bad influence and made a very unwise decision, and is now paying the price for it.”
Daniel also thanked people for their contributions, explaining that the funds would go towards legal assistance and travel expenses for the family to visit Mia.
Prison Conditions
Daniel claims that Mia is being held in the “central prison,” believed to be Al-Awir prison in Dubai. This prison is known for its horrific conditions, as reported by former inmates and their families.
Former inmates' stories recount cases of violence and abuse by the guards.
Daniel also noted: “She is currently going through tough times. She was recently transferred to another prison after receiving a life sentence. It was a huge shock.”
Al-Awir prison in Dubai is reportedly receiving harsh criticism due to numerous allegations of mistreatment, according to human rights defenders.
Dubai's prison system and government categorically deny all allegations of brutality.
This situation has sparked significant interest from international human rights organizations, as the issue of prison conditions in Middle Eastern countries has always been in the spotlight. Mia's family is currently focused on seeking legal support to empower her to defend her rights and freedoms.
