Several countries have agreed to support the proposal of French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the deployment of a Western military contingent in Ukraine.

This was announced by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgy Tikhi, during communication with media representatives.

According to the spokesperson, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky supported this French initiative after meetings in Brussels, viewing it as an important element of security guarantees.

'Indeed, besides France, there are several other countries that express readiness to take such a step,' noted Georgy Tikhi. At the same Time, he emphasized that discussions are at the initial stage, so specific details regarding the time and place of the contingent's deployment have not yet been determined.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized Ukraine's active participation in these negotiations, confirming adherence to the principle of 'nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine'. According to him, the Ukrainian side welcomes such discussions and opposes any limitations in the formats of support from partners.

President Zelensky, commenting on the meetings in Brussels, confirmed the discussions on the possibility of deploying a peacekeeping mission as a means to prevent new Russian aggression and noted the positive reaction of some leaders to this initiative.
