In Chernihiv region, another community voted for the transition to the OCU.
In Chernihiv region, more and more communities are expressing their desire to abandon the Moscow Patriarchate. In the village of Shestovytsia of the Kyinska community in Chernihiv district, residents unanimously voted for the transition of the St. Nicholas parish to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The voting took place with the participation of representatives of the local authorities and the Chernihiv diocese of the OCU. 52 residents of the village supported the transition.
The residents of Shestovytsia have a negative attitude towards the church that has a religious center in the aggressor country.
The government bill No. 8371 prohibits the activities of religious organizations that have a governing center in an aggressive state, such as the Moscow church in Ukraine under the brand of UOC-MP.
In July, deputies blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada due to the refusal to consider the bill to ban the UOC-MP. President Volodymyr Zelensky also announced a decision that will contribute to strengthening Ukraine's spiritual independence.
The faction "Servant of the People" and OPZZH refused to consider the issue of banning the Moscow church. The Verkhovna Rada suspended its work. Deputies demanded the adoption of the decision to ban the UOC-MP.
Also in May, deputies from "European Solidarity" blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, demanding the consideration of issues regarding fortifications and drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the ban of the UOC-MP.
