Passenger Flow at Lviv Region Border Crossings Expected to Rise Up to 20%: Which Checkpoints Are Busiest.
Rising Passenger Traffic Through Border Checkpoints in Lviv Region
According to Espreso.tv: Anastasiia Lipska, spokesperson for the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment, has announced that passenger traffic through border checkpoints in Lviv Region could increase by up to 20% during the summer months. She noted that this period traditionally sees a surge in cross-border movement, which may lead to longer queues at border points.
Checkpoint Congestion Levels
The busiest checkpoints remain 'Shehyni' and 'Krakovets,' both currently experiencing high traffic volumes. Moderate congestion is reported at 'Rava-Ruska,' 'Hrushiv,' and 'Uhryniv.' In contrast, 'Smilnytsia' and 'Nyzhankovychi' record the lowest levels of traffic, making them potentially appealing options for travelers planning cross-border trips.
Lipska also advises citizens planning to cross the state border to do so on weekdays, when leaving Ukraine, and during early morning or late evening hours. Following this guidance could help avoid long waits and ensure a smoother border crossing experience.
Additionally, starting June 15, repair work began on bus lanes at the Polish checkpoint 'Medyka,' which may also affect overall traffic during this period. Travelers should take these changes into account when planning their journeys.
The expected rise in passenger traffic during summer is a common trend at border crossings, driven by the tourist season and increased travel activity. Following recommendations to cross on weekdays and at specific times can significantly reduce inconvenience for travelers. It is also important to consider ongoing repairs that may impact wait times, especially at popular checkpoints.
