Massive Queues at Ukraine’s Borders on June 19: Border Guard Warns of Major Delays.
Border Crossing Situation in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: On June 19, long queues are forming at Ukraine’s borders with Poland, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) advises travelers to account for potential delays when planning their trips. This surge comes amid the summer travel season, when higher passenger volumes are typical.
As of 9:00 AM, congestion has been reported at the following checkpoints:
- At the 'Yahodyn' checkpoint, no buses are present, and pedestrian crossings are not being processed.
- At the 'Ustyluh' checkpoint, there are 45 passenger cars, no buses, and no pedestrian crossings.
- At the 'Hrushiv' checkpoint, 20 passenger cars are recorded, with no buses and no pedestrian crossings.
- At the 'Krakovets' checkpoint, 30 passenger cars and 4 buses are observed, but pedestrian crossings are not available.
- At the 'Shehyni' checkpoint, 30 passenger cars are noted, no buses, but there are 180 pedestrians.
- At the 'Malyi Bereznyi' checkpoint, no passenger cars, buses, or pedestrians are reported.
- At the 'Uzhhorod' checkpoint, 20 passenger cars are present, no buses, but there are 15 pedestrians.
- At the 'Tysa' checkpoint, 20 passenger cars and 1 bus are recorded, with no pedestrian crossings.
- At the 'Diakove' checkpoint, no passenger cars, buses, or pedestrian crossings are reported.
The SBGS warns of possible hold-ups and recommends factoring these into cross-border travel plans.
Impact on Travel
The situation at Ukraine’s borders reflects increased activity at crossing points, likely tied to seasonal travel, holidays, and a rise in passenger flow. These delays could disrupt travelers’ itineraries, making it crucial to heed SBGS advice and prepare for potential difficulties during journeys.
Improving checkpoint operations to better serve citizens remains a pressing concern.
