A 5.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in northern Chile. According to Reuters, the epicenter was located approximately 80 km south of San Pedro de Atacama, in the Antofagasta region, at a depth of 178 km.
Chile is located in an active seismic zone where the Pacific and South American tectonic plates interact, leading to frequent earthquakes of varying strength.
Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge the population to follow safety measures.
Recall that on March 28, a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar, which was also felt in Thailand. As a result, several thousand people died.
This earthquake was the strongest in Myanmar in the last hundred years, causing destruction of both ancient pagodas and modern buildings.
Recently, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in southern California.
The tremors were recorded around 10 a.m. local time, with the epicenter located a few kilometers south of a settlement near the border with Mexico, at a depth of approximately 13 km.
