On Monday, July 15, the Sun astonished with a massive explosion that resulted in a plasma ejection into space. The consequence of this was the formation of a bright 'fire canyon' over 400,000 kilometers long on the surface of the star, approximately the same size as the distance between the Earth and the Moon. Recorded by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, the explosion was caused by the eruption of a filament on the Sun, triggered by magnetic loops. This explosion created a 'fire canyon' and caused a coronal mass ejection that, however, is not expected to forecast serious geomagnetic storms on Earth. Previous discoveries in studying the Sun include obtaining clear images of the southern pole of the star. The strongest flare on the Sun, which caused radio disturbances, was also recorded.
