Hubble reveals unique image of a star cluster: details from NASA.
According to Korrespondent.net: NASA has released a new image of a starry landscape, captured by the Hubble Space Telescope.
Cluster N11 in the Large Magellanic Cloud
The image shows the N11 cluster, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud—a dwarf galaxy approximately 160,000 light-years away from Earth.
Although the mass of this galaxy is less than 10-20% of the Milky Way's mass, it is the largest of our closest cosmic 'neighbors'. Within N11, star formation is actively occurring, and this cluster ranks second in size in this process, becoming the subject of extensive Hubble studies.
Bright stars and their light
NASA specialists note that young stars, which are extremely bright, emit intense ultraviolet light that illuminates gas clouds and generates dust clumps. The new image captures these impressive processes.
The image combines results from observations made over a 20-year interval. The telescope first studied N11 in 2002-2003, when astronomers cataloged stars with masses ranging from 10% of the Sun's mass to giants weighing hundreds of times more. The second set of data was obtained using Hubble's state-of-the-art camera, which detailed the structures of cosmic dust and unveiled new aspects of the processes occurring in the star cluster.

Exploring space and observing star clusters like N11 not only enrich our understanding of the Universe but also open new horizons in the study of star formation. These discoveries may help astronomers better understand the evolution of galaxies and the nature of stars themselves. The latest images from NASA once again highlight the significance and potential of modern space telescopes in expanding our knowledge of the cosmos.
