The SPHEREx space telescope has created the first map of the visible universe
The NASA SPHEREx telescope, launched in March 2025 with a budget of 488 million dollars, has completed work on the first map of the entire universe visible from Earth. The telescope used 102 bands of infrared light to collect data on the distribution of millions of galaxies and the evolution of the universe over 13.8 billion years. During its mission, SPHEREx makes about 15 orbits around the Earth every day, capturing 3600 images with each orbit. So far, scientists have presented the first map, which will help understand how the universe developed after the Big Bang and how key elements essential for life were distributed. Over the next two years, the telescope will create three more maps, which will eventually allow for the most detailed map of the visible universe with all infrared data.We remind you that NASA made a discovery about clouds on Venus.NASA considers Chernobyl mushrooms as a new protection against radiation in space
According to Korrespondent.net: The creation of the universe map by the SPHEREx telescope is an important step in exploring the universe, as the data obtained will help scientists better understand its history and structure. In the coming years, we will be able to witness new discoveries that may change our perceptions of the universe and our place in it.
