NATO does not consider the incursion of Russian drones into Poland an attack: what happened.
According to inkorr.com: NATO does not consider the incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace an attack. According to 'Hvylya', this news was confirmed by the Reuters agency. One of the sources in the Alliance stated that the violation of Polish airspace by 6-10 drones is seen as intentional but not as an act of aggression. He also emphasized that NATO aircraft participated for the first time in repelling potential threats in the skies of an ally.
'This was the first case where NATO planes attacked potentially dangerous objects in the airspace of an ally,' he said.
The source added that the Patriot air defense systems deployed in the region detected the drones using radar but were not engaged to target them. Polish F-16 fighters, Dutch F-35s, Italian AWACS airborne early warning aircraft, and aerial refueling planes subordinate to NATO were involved in this operation.
This is the first time Russian drones have violated Polish airspace
It is worth mentioning that on the night of September 10, Russian combat drones of the 'Shahed' type entered Polish airspace. According to data from Ukraine, this occurred with the involvement of 8 drones during a large-scale attack by Russia on Ukrainian territory, in which 415 drones and 40 missiles were used. Poland shot down Russian drones on its territory for the first time.
Therefore, it should be noted that NATO does not regard the actions of Russian drones in Polish airspace as an attack, although they are considered intentional violations. This case highlights the importance of international military cooperation in ensuring security in the region. The successful use of defense systems to protect NATO member countries is extremely important amid rising threats.
