There is no turning back: The EU has put an end to the issue of Russian gas.

The European Commission has decided to refuse the import of Russian gas by 2027, regardless of future developments. European Commissioner Dan Jorgensen explained that this decision was made because Russia uses energy as a means of pressure on the EU member states, which no longer see them as reliable trading partners.
'Regardless of what happens on the battlefield, we maintain this decision. We hope the conflict ends in peace,' he added.
Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria opposed this initiative since they are still dependent on Russian gas supplies. Other EU states do not support their attempts to stop this decision. Austrian officials had previously expressed support for the possibility of resuming gas imports from Russia if a peace agreement is reached between Russia and Ukraine.
The ban on importing Russian gas is an important step in affirming the EU's energy independence and mutual support among the Union countries.
