Research: Kia EV6 Outperforms Tesla in Battery Longevity.
According to Korrespondent.net: The Swedish company Kvdbil, which specializes in selling used cars, conducted a detailed study on battery wear in 1,300 electric and hybrid vehicles. As reported by InsideEVs, the results were unexpected: the best battery durability was demonstrated by the Kia EV6, which even surpassed Tesla.
Research Results
According to experts, the State of Health indicator, which shows the level of retained initial capacity, exceeded 90% in most analyzed vehicles. The least wear was observed in the Kia EV6, followed by the Kia e-Niro. The Tesla Model Y took only third place, and the overall top ten electric vehicles for battery condition is as follows:
- Kia EV6
- Kia e-Niro
- Tesla Model Y
- Opel Mokka-e
- Mazda MX-30
- Audi Q4 e-tron
- Fiat 500e
- Volvo XC40 Recharge
- Citroën e-C4
- Volkswagen ID.4
Among Brands
Among manufacturers, Kia, Audi, Opel, Tesla, Mercedes, Peugeot, Volvo, BMW, Volkswagen, and Škoda have the highest average level of retained initial capacity. Among hybrids, Kia Sportage, Kia Optima, and Volvo XC60 are the leaders.
Expert Recommendations
According to the head of testing Martin Reinholdsson, the degree of degradation depends more on operating conditions than on the manufacturer – such as age, climate, driving style, and charging habits. He recommends not to charge the battery to 100% too often, avoid fast charging, and not to leave the car fully charged for extended periods.
It was previously reported that the Chinese company Chery presented a battery for electric vehicles with a range of 1,300 km.

The Kvdbil study was an important step in understanding the efficiency of batteries in modern electric vehicles. Knowledge about how different models withstand battery wear can help consumers make informed choices when purchasing a car. In turn, the expert's recommendations for battery maintenance can prolong the lifespan of electric vehicles, which is particularly important amid growing demand for eco-friendly transportation. Such studies contribute to the improvement of technologies and the availability of electric vehicles in the market.
