Impossible to exist: Popenko sharply commented on the retirement age for men at 65.
The expert disagrees with the idea of raising the retirement age
Oleg Popenko, an expert on energy issues, expressed his views on raising the retirement age for men to 65 during a conversation with political scientist Yuriy Romanenko.
Popenko commented on the statement by the head of the Ministry of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovych, that men want to work even at 65. In response, he pointed out that the Ministry of Social Policy needs to review the statistics, as the average age of a man in Ukraine is 56 years and many do not live to the retirement age.
According to the expert, the social policy in the country does not provide men with enough opportunities to rest in retirement. Many of them die before reaching retirement age.
'Understanding that we are being deceived. At 65, will all my illnesses be cured? Of course, at 65 I won't be sick, but I won't live to that age. On average, men in Ukraine die at 56. Look at how they die! At 65, I will be looking for a job, but who will want to hire me in this country? It's already hard to exist,' - said Popenko.
The expert thus expressed his disagreement with the idea of raising the retirement age, noting that many men do not have the opportunity to live to it.
Earlier, Shmyhal announced the launch of new digital services for servicemen through the 'Diiа' platform.
