Drone Launch on Ukraine

According to UATV: On June 12, 2023, a total of 117 attack drones were launched against Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully destroyed or neutralized 102 of them. The drones included models such as the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and Parody-type decoy drones.

The assault came from multiple launch points: Oryol, Kursk, and Millerovo in Russia, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea, specifically Chauda and Gvardeyskoye. During the attack, 14 strike drones were recorded at 7 locations, and debris from downed drones was found across 8 different areas.

Effectiveness of Ukraine's Defense Forces

Ukraine's defense forces—including aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare teams, drone systems, and mobile fire groups—proved highly effective in countering this threat. The destruction of the vast majority of drones highlights the readiness and responsiveness of Ukrainian forces in protecting the country's airspace.

This incident underscores the persistent threat posed by drone systems in the ongoing war in Ukraine, as well as the critical need to modernize and enhance the effectiveness of air defense capabilities. — Source unknown

The use of various drone types, including decoys, signals an evolution in the aggressor's tactics. This, in turn, demands that Ukrainian forces adapt and refine their security strategies to stay ahead.

The introduction of new technologies into the enemy's arsenal makes the battle for airspace even more crucial for Ukraine's national security.
