Blackout and Fire Hit Zaporizhzhia District After Overnight Strike.
June 7 Night Attack on Zaporizhzhia
According to Novyny.live: Russia launched a strike on Zaporizhzhia during the night of June 7, leaving part of one district without power. A fire broke out as a result of the assault, with emergency crews currently working to contain it. The first wave of the attack involved drones, while the second wave used a guided aerial bomb (KAB).
Air raid alerts were activated across several regions: Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk, parts of Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Crimea. This latest assault follows a previous strike on June 6, which hit the roof of a supermarket and damaged eight apartment buildings.
Aftermath of the Shelling
The June 6 attack caused severe damage to critical and industrial infrastructure. Two workers were killed, and as of the morning of June 5, the number of wounded had risen to 16, including a 9-year-old girl.
Zaporizhzhia Mayor Ivan Fedorov commented on the situation, stating:
“Due to the enemy attack, one of Zaporizhzhia’s districts is partially without electricity. Power engineers are already working to restore service to residents.” - Ivan Fedorov
He added: “The enemy has struck Zaporizhzhia again. A fire has broken out. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene.”
The situation in the region remains tense, with local authorities and emergency teams continuing to address the damage from the shelling and ensure public safety.
These attacks highlight the ongoing instability and danger in Ukraine, particularly in the Zaporizhzhia region, which has recently faced serious assaults on civilian infrastructure. The deteriorating conditions may increase humanitarian needs among local residents and further complicate post-war recovery efforts. Emergency services and municipal officials are working around the clock to restore electricity and manage the aftermath, demonstrating their readiness to respond to crises during wartime.
