Russian Forces Launch Coordinated Attack on Ukraine

According to UATV: On July 5, 2023, Russian military forces carried out a large-scale assault on Ukrainian territory, utilizing both missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The attack involved a single Kh-31 anti-radiation missile, three Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles, and 125 strike drones launched from multiple locations, including Bryansk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the temporarily occupied area of Donetsk, and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.

As of 8:00 AM, preliminary reports indicate that Ukrainian defenses neutralized 112 enemy drones and three Kh-59/69 guided missiles. The Kh-31 anti-radiation missile failed to reach its intended target. Four strike drones hit the ground at three separate locations within Ukraine, while debris from intercepted drones fell across eight sites.

Defense Response and Aftermath

Ukraine’s air force, air defense missile units, electronic warfare (EW) teams, and mobile fire groups from the Defense Forces worked together to repel the attack. Notably, on July 4, nine people were injured in strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region. The situation remains tense as developments continue to unfold.

This assault is part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been raging since 2014. The extensive use of drones and missiles highlights an escalation in hostilities and the persistent threat to civilian life. The high interception rate achieved by Ukrainian forces underscores their readiness and capability to defend the country against aerial attacks.
