The Netherlands considers limiting the influx of draft-age men from Ukraine.
Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof stated that he is ready to discuss measures that could limit the sending of draft-age Ukrainian men to the Netherlands.
The leader of the far-right Freedom Party, Geert Wilders, initiated a discussion about Ukrainian men in the Netherlands. He mentioned the significant number of Ukrainians who are in the Netherlands and what their government expects from their return to their homeland. Wilders emphasized the importance of citizens' participation in defending their country during the war.
Schoof refers to a conversation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and claims that the Ukrainian leader was cautious about forcibly returning compatriots.
«I think if your country is at war, it is completely normal that you help defend your country», said Wilders.
Despite the discussion, Schoof emphasized that the directive regulating the rights of Ukrainian refugees for reception, medical care, work, and education in the Netherlands remains in effect.
