Nike unveiled Project Amplify – a system for electric-powered shoes

According to Korrespondent.net: Nike announced the launch of Project Amplify, which is considered 'the world's first system for electric-powered shoes,' according to information from The Verge. This technology is designed based on the principles of electric bicycles and aims to enhance the natural movements of a person, allowing them to run faster and walk easier.

Nike representatives noted that the first-generation prototype was created in collaboration with Dephy, a company specializing in robotics. This product is intended not for professional athletes, but for enthusiasts who want to cover long distances with less energy expenditure.

Project Amplify is designed as a lightweight ankle orthosis, inside which are located an electric motor, a drive belt, and a battery. This system is intended for runners moving at a moderate pace – about 8-10 km/h.

The development took several years and involved the participation of over 400 athletes. Currently, the project is in the testing phase. Nike confirmed the intention to launch a commercial version of Project Amplify in the coming years, which will be an important step towards a new generation of sports equipment with elements of robotics.

Moreover, it was previously reported about a knee exoskeleton presented by a Chinese startup, specifically for hiking. This indicates the active development of technologies in the field of sports and physical activity, which can significantly improve people's quality of life.
