Germany strengthens visa restrictions for Russian citizens: what will change.
According to inkorr.com: Germany is introducing new restrictions on visa issuance for Russian citizens. The country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the tightening of visa acquisition conditions for Russians.
Restrictions based on EU principles
As reported by DW, the German government is acting in accordance with the decisions of the European Union, which require the cancellation of the simplified visa regime with Russia due to the ongoing war.
'This applies to both Schengen visas and national visas,' the ministry emphasized.
New visa processing
Among the new measures are an increase in the visa fee, the introduction of additional document requirements, extended processing times for applications, and restrictions on obtaining multiple-entry visas. The ministry also stressed the importance of a unified approach across all Schengen Area countries regarding restrictions for Russian citizens. Visa issuance criteria will be regularly reviewed in accordance with current conditions.
Security and regulations
Thus, the German government has decided to tighten visa issuance restrictions for Russians in accordance with EU regulations. This is an important step to ensure security and compliance with rules in the context of the conflict with Russia.
These new measures emphasize that European Union countries continue to coordinate on security issues, especially in the context of current geopolitical tension. An important goal is to protect the interests of the EU and control migration processes against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.
