Nissan unveiled the new NX8 crossover: the first budget SUV in the series

According to Korrespondent.net: Nissan presented the new NX8 crossover, developed in collaboration with the Chinese company Dongfeng. This model is the first in the budget N-series, which already includes the N6 and N7 sedans.

The vehicle features a recognizable design: smooth body lines, a closed front without a traditional grille, and a wide LED strip connecting the headlights and extending onto the fender. At the rear, the NX8 stands out with OLED taillights that span the entire width.

In terms of dimensions, the NX8 significantly surpasses the Rogue. The vehicle's length is 4870 mm, width is 1920 mm, height is 1680 mm, and the wheelbase reaches 2917 mm. It is 222 mm longer than the Rogue and 152 mm shorter than the Pathfinder, however, it has a larger wheelbase, providing additional space in the cabin. The interior has not yet been revealed, but it is expected to be designed in the style of the younger N-series models with a large central display and soft finishing materials.

In China, the NX8 is classified as an electrified vehicle. Two fully electric options with power outputs of 288 hp and 335 hp will be offered, as well as two plug-in hybrid versions. Both hybrids will feature a 1.5-liter turbo engine with an output of 146 hp and an electric motor with an output of 262 hp, but one will operate as a traditional hybrid, while in the other, the internal combustion engine will serve as a generator for the electric motor.

All modifications will receive new CATL LFP batteries with fast charging support. Information regarding battery capacity and range has not been disclosed yet. Cameras, radars, and a roof-mounted lidar indicate Nissan's intentions to introduce advanced driver assistance systems.

Sales of the NX8 in China are planned to start in the first half of 2026, with prices announced closer to the launch date. The model will also be exported to other markets, although there is currently no information about its availability in Europe or Australia. Given the prices of the N6 and N7 sedans, the new NX8 is likely to gain popularity in the affordable price segment.

The Nissan NX8 is expected to play a significant role in the company's strategy in the electric and hybrid vehicle market. Investments in new technologies, as well as a focus on comfort and safety, could significantly enhance the competitiveness of this crossover amid the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles.
