Norway Funds New Wind Farm in Ukraine: Key Details on the Poltava Project.
Financing for the Poltava Wind Farm
According to TSN.ua: DTEK Group has secured a grant from Norway's Norad agency to advance the Poltava Wind Farm, a facility planned to generate 650 MW. The grant, totaling 5.5 million Norwegian kroner (roughly €487,000), will fund geotechnical surveys and the preparation of engineering designs.
The overall Norwegian support package for this initiative amounts to €8 million. This financial injection provides crucial backing for Ukraine's energy grid, which continues to grapple with significant disruptions.
Oleksandr Selyshchev, a DTEK representative, stated: 'We welcome Norway's support at a time when Ukraine's energy system continues to face challenges.'
The Role of International Cooperation
Beyond advancing renewable energy in Ukraine, this project underscores the critical importance of cross-border collaboration in the energy sector. The construction of the Poltava Wind Farm represents a major step toward strengthening the country's energy independence.
This wind farm investment highlights Ukraine's growing push to adopt renewable sources, a vital shift amid ongoing difficulties. Assistance from international allies like Norway not only supplies technical and financial resources but also deepens bilateral energy ties.
Attracting foreign capital into renewable ventures could prove pivotal to Ukraine's long-term goal of achieving energy self-sufficiency.
