Wave of Drone Attacks Continues to Hit Odesa

According to Novyny.live: Russia keeps launching drone strikes against Ukraine’s Odesa region, causing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. On June 8, an attack injured three people: two women aged 64 and 65, and a 55-year-old minibus driver. One of the women, born in 1961, sustained severe shrapnel wounds.

During the same wave of strikes, a drone hit a residential building in the city of Chornomorsk, though no injuries were reported there. The attacks also damaged the local energy infrastructure, leaving more than a thousand households without electricity. This adds to the strain on Ukraine’s power grid, which has been a repeated target of Russian assaults.

Rising Violence and Broader Security Risks

A day earlier, on June 7, Russian forces launched a massive drone barrage on the Odesa region, wounding one man and damaging several homes. The situation was similarly severe on June 5, when another drone attack wounded one person in the area.

Meanwhile, on June 8, an unidentified drone exploded in the Orhei district of Moldova. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. These incidents highlight the escalating violence and the persistent threat that drone attacks pose to the region.

The ongoing drone assaults by Russia on Odesa underscore the danger to civilians and critical infrastructure in Ukraine. Beyond the immediate human toll, such attacks can have long-term consequences for the region’s energy supply. The explosion in Moldova also shows that the drone threat is spilling beyond Ukraine’s borders, raising alarms among neighboring countries and underscoring the need for stronger security measures across the entire area.
