ETIAS Travel Authorization Required for Ukrainians Visiting Poland from 2026.
Revised Entry Rules for Ukrainians Traveling to Poland
According to Novyny.live: Starting in late 2026, Ukrainian citizens will need to obtain a new electronic travel authorization, known as ETIAS, to visit Poland and other countries within the Schengen Area. This system is part of a broader EU initiative to enhance border security and streamline entry procedures for travelers from non-EU nations, including Ukraine.
The mandatory ETIAS application will cost €20 per person. However, certain groups will be exempt from this fee: individuals over 70 years old, children and adolescents under 18, and family members of EU citizens. This exemption is designed to provide relief for more vulnerable travelers planning trips to Poland and the wider Schengen zone.
ETIAS Requirements and Validity
Once approved, an ETIAS authorization will be valid for up to three years or until the holder's passport expires, permitting multiple entries. Travelers must still adhere to the standard Schengen rule of not staying more than 90 days within any 180-day period. It is crucial to submit accurate information, as the application fee is non-refundable, even in cases of denial or if errors are discovered in the submitted form.
Consequently, these new entry regulations will establish fresh conditions for Ukrainian nationals intending to visit Schengen countries, requiring additional preparatory steps for documentation.
The implementation of the ETIAS permit is a component of a wider European Union policy aimed at strengthening border control and security measures.
This change could potentially affect tourism and business exchanges between Ukraine and the Schengen Area, as the new documentation requirements may pose a hurdle for some travelers. Proactive preparation and public awareness campaigns about the updated rules can help ease the transition for Ukrainians adjusting to the new travel framework.
