New Laser Weapon Apollo: 200 Drones on a Single Charge

According to inkorr.com: The Australian company Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has unveiled a mobile laser weapon called Apollo, with a power of up to 150 kW. This laser system is the most effective in its class in the world and can destroy up to 200 drones on a single charge, with no costs for ammunition. This became known from a publication by the 'Glavkom' based on materials from Interesting Engineering.

Features of the Apollo System

The Apollo system has a mobile and modular design, allowing it to fit into a standard 20-foot container. It can operate autonomously thanks to a built-in power source.

Effectiveness of the Laser Weapon

The Apollo laser can destroy drones in mid-air in just a few seconds, carrying out over 200 attacks on a single charge. Its range is up to 3 km, and it can blind optics and sensors up to 15 km. EOS notes that the system has already been delivered to one of the NATO countries, becoming the first laser of such power in the world ready for combat use in a mobile format.

Comments from the CEO

EOS CEO Andreas Schwer explained that the growing demand for inexpensive defense against swarm attacks has stimulated the development of Apollo. Since traditional air defense systems and missile complexes are very expensive to use against mass-produced cheap drones, laser weapons have become an effective solution due to the lack of need to spend precious ammunition.

With the introduction of Apollo, the Australian company EOS has made a significant step in the development of laser technologies for defense. This innovation promises to change approaches to drone defense and could become an important element in air defense systems, especially in the context of modern threats related to unmanned aerial vehicles.
