The new strain Stratus is spreading globally: should we be worried and what are the symptoms.
According to Victoria Zadorozhna, director of the Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases, a new variant of the virus called Stratus is spreading worldwide. It belongs to a group that requires monitoring but does not pose a threat. She informed journalists from TSN about this.
The Stratus virus, as specialists have discovered, is actively spreading around the world, but so far it does not cause serious complications or increased mortality. This new virus requires attention and monitoring as it may adapt to the human body. People with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly and children, may be particularly vulnerable to infection. Some cases of the disease have already been recorded in several regions of Ukraine.
What is dangerous about the Stratus virus
According to WHO classification, viruses were previously divided into three groups: those that cause concern, those that require monitoring, and those of interest. Currently, only the last two categories exist, and viruses with a high level of danger are absent.
Doctors note that the Stratus virus variant may manifest symptoms that can easily be confused with other diseases, and may also persist in a person for a longer time without revealing itself. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to your health and quickly consult a doctor if you suspect an infection.
In Kyiv, an increase in the number of patients with seasonal illnesses has also been recorded, which may be related to the spread of the Stratus virus. People are urged to follow preventive measures and be cautious.
