Nvidia has unveiled the most affordable RTX 5050 graphics card: details and price
Nvidia has officially presented the GeForce RTX 5050 - a desktop entry-level graphics card that will be the cheapest in the Blackwell (RTX 5000) lineup. Along with the desktop version, a mobile version will also be presented, which will appear in gaming laptops.

The new model uses a graphics processor that has 2560 CUDA cores, 20 RT cores for ray tracing, 80 texture units, and 80 tensor cores. The number of ROP blocks has not been specified by the company. The base GPU frequency is 2.31 GHz, while the Boost frequency is 2.57 GHz.

This is the only graphics card in the Blackwell family that does not utilize GDDR7 memory. The memory bandwidth is 320 GB/s.

The card is equipped with three DisplayPort 2.1b and one HDMI 2.1b. For comparison, the most budget AMD competitor - the Radeon RX 9060 has only two DisplayPort 2.1a and one HDMI 2.1b.

For statistics, the new item is compared to the RTX 3050, since Nvidia has not released a desktop RTX 4050. The graphics card shows performance up to four times higher than the model from two generations ago. However, as in the announcements of the older cards in the lineup, Nvidia uses AI features for gathering statistics that are simply unavailable on older counterparts, making it difficult to assess the real increase in 'pure' power before independent tests appear.

Interestingly, the mobile version of the RTX 5050 does use GDDR7 memory, unlike the 'full' version. In synthetic tests, it is approximately 9% better than the RTX 4050 and 19% slower than the older RTX 5060.

The recommended price for the RTX 5050 is $249, but Nvidia will not offer a reference version – the cards will be produced exclusively by the company's partners. Laptops with the mobile graphics card will cost around $900.

The exact start date for sales has not been announced, but the product launch is expected in the second half of July.
