OSCE sets ceasefire condition: return of prisoners and deported children.
Key remarks by Artur Herasymov at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session
According to UATV: During the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session, Artur Herasymov, deputy head of Ukraine’s permanent delegation to the assembly, stressed that any ceasefire in the conflict must unconditionally include the repatriation of Ukrainian prisoners and deported children. He emphasized that humanitarian issues cannot be used as bargaining chips in political negotiations.
“Prisoners of war must be held in accordance with the Geneva Conventions and returned under the ‘all for all’ principle.” – Artur Herasymov
At the same time, Herasymov made clear that “freeing people cannot be traded for lifting sanctions, legitimizing territorial seizures, or limiting Ukraine’s sovereign right to determine its own future.”
Special tribunal for the crime of aggression
Additionally, it has been announced that a special tribunal to prosecute the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine will be established in the Netherlands. This decision, taken by the Dutch government, reflects growing international backing for Ukraine’s pursuit of justice and accountability for war crimes.
Herasymov’s statements highlight the critical humanitarian dimension of the conflict, underscoring the need to bring back not only military personnel but also civilians who have fallen victim to the war. Furthermore, the creation of a special tribunal in the Netherlands signals stronger global support for Ukraine’s quest for justice and punishment of those responsible for war crimes—a pivotal step in restoring the rule of law and human rights in the region.
