Due to Russian attacks, five Ukrainian regions were left without power. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.

«In the past 24 hours, due to shelling and military actions, consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions were blacked out», – the statement said.

As of the morning of October 27, due to military actions and technical issues, 528 settlements are completely or partially without power.

Power outages in the regions:

  • in the Dnipropetrovsk region, due to a substation shelling, equipment was shut down, causing blackouts for residential consumers and water utilities. Power was restored;
  • in the Donetsk region, military actions led to the shutdown of power lines, substations, and residential consumers;
  • in the Sumy region during an air alert, substations, residential consumers, energy facilities, and local industries were blacked out due to a drone attack. Power was also restored;
  • in the Khmelnytskyi region during an air alert, equipment at one of the substations was shut down, leading to blackouts for substations, residential, and industrial consumers. During the inspection, a fire was detected and extinguished. Power was restored via a backup scheme.

The Ministry of Energy also noted that imports of electricity from Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, and Moldova with a total capacity of 5000 MWh and a power of 1220 MW are currently expected.

Recall that on October 27, Russian military forces launched an airstrike on energy facilities of critical infrastructure in the Romny district of the Sumy region. Also, that night, after enemy drone strikes in Sumy, electricity was cut off.

It is also worth mentioning that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, under the control of Russian occupiers, lost connection again with the only standby power transmission line with a voltage of 330 kilovolts (kV). The outage lasted more than a day.
