Emergency Power Cuts Hit Odesa on March 29 Without Prior Warning.
Electricity Supply Situation in Odesa
According to Novyny.live: On March 29, residents of Odesa will face unannounced emergency power outages. These measures stem from severe damage to the region's energy infrastructure—since mid-December, 34 major substations in Odesa Oblast have been destroyed or compromised. This has created major challenges in maintaining a stable electricity supply for the population.
April Electricity Prices
Electricity prices in April will remain unchanged at 4.32 UAH per kWh. Households with dual-zone meters will continue to benefit from a reduced nighttime rate of 2.16 UAH per kWh. For businesses, the base electricity price in April will be 686.23 UAH per MWh (excluding VAT). A discounted rate of 359.55 UAH per MWh has been introduced for enterprises operating in the green electrometallurgy sector.
The heating season in Odesa Oblast is currently winding down, running from March 28 to 31. Due to the critical state of the energy grid, the region will receive 582.3 million UAH from the state budget reserve fund. This funding is intended to support the restoration of damaged substations and improve the reliability of electricity supply across the area.
Given the ongoing complexity of the power situation, residents are advised to contact local utilities for updates on outages and potential restoration timelines. Staying informed about the latest developments in regional electricity supply is essential under these circumstances.
The situation in Odesa Oblast underscores the urgent need to rebuild energy infrastructure following prolonged damage.
The allocation of funds from the state reserve is aimed not only at addressing the immediate aftermath but also at preventing similar crises in the future. Local residents should remain cautious and prepared for possible blackouts, as restoring full power may take considerable time given the scale of the damage.
