Seasonal Spike in Acute Respiratory Infections Hits Odesa: Doctors Urge Prompt Medical Visits.
Rising Cases of Acute Respiratory Illnesses in Odesa
According to Novyny.live: In March 2023, Odesa is experiencing an uptick in patients with acute respiratory infections, a typical seasonal pattern. Despite this rise, hospitalization rates have held steady. Currently, 63 individuals are receiving inpatient care, which medical professionals say aligns with normal seasonal trends and does not represent an elevated figure.
Tetyana Kaftan, Director of the Primary Health Care Center No. 5, stated: 'We are seeing a slight increase in the incidence of acute respiratory diseases.'
Healthcare providers recommend that patients visit outpatient clinics and family doctors at the first signs of illness, whether for acute respiratory infections or potential complications. 'We advise all our patients to come to the outpatient clinic and see their family doctors,' Kaftan added.
Symptoms and At-Risk Groups
Symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections include:
- fever (37.5–39°C / 99.5–102.2°F)
- weakness
- body aches
- runny nose
- nasal congestion
- sore throat
- cough
- headache
- chills
- fatigue
Children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic conditions are at higher risk. Medical facilities continue to provide necessary care, with stable hospitalization numbers ensuring they can effectively manage seasonal outbreaks of acute respiratory infections.
The increase in acute respiratory infections is a common occurrence during spring, when weather conditions shift. Importantly, Odesa's healthcare system is handling this surge without becoming overwhelmed. Early consultation with medical professionals is crucial to prevent complications and ensure proper care for all patients.
