Odesa Targeted by Major Drone Assault
According to Novyny.live: The city of Odesa came under a concentrated attack by hostile kamikaze drones, resulting in civilian casualties. The assault occurred during an air raid alert as approximately 50 drones approached the city. This attack is part of a wider pattern of assaults on Ukrainian port cities and civilian infrastructure.
Casualties Include Sports Figure
Among those injured was well-known football coach Serhii Marusyn, a former player and coach for the Odesa SKA team. Debris from a downed drone struck the lower floors of a nine-story building, forcing firefighters to use a ladder to rescue Marusyn, who was found semi-conscious. He is currently hospitalized in Odesa and has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the burn department. His condition is reported as serious, and emergency services continue to assess the full impact of the attack.
This incident underscores the persistent threat from hostile forces, who show no hesitation in targeting civilian areas.
Such attacks risk exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the region, as the population endures constant danger and uncertainty. Local authorities in Odesa maintain that the situation is under control, with services actively working to ensure resident safety and evaluate the damage caused by the drone barrage.
