Odesa: online learning in schools due to significant flooding.
According to inkorr.com: Online learning due to flooding: situation in Odesa
As a result of worsening weather conditions and significant flooding that occurred in Odesa, on October 1, the educational process in schools was transitioned to an online format. Olena Buinyevich, head of the Education Department of the Odesa City Council, reported that this decision was made for prompt response to the consequences of the natural disaster. Many schools, classes and groups suffered damage due to flooding.
Kindergartens continue to operate as usual, but parents are asked to contact educators if there are difficulties accessing the institution due to force majeure. Despite remote learning, schools are organizing shifts for preschoolers and primary school students.
“If a child has no one to leave them with, they will definitely be accepted at the educational institution,” emphasized Buinyevich. She also urged parents not to let children attend evening classes due to difficult weather conditions and darkness.
Rescue operations and the number of victims
Emergency service workers have been actively eliminating the consequences of the heavy rain and flooding that affected Odesa and surrounding areas for nearly a day. According to the latest data, 9 people have died as a result of the disaster, including one child. Search operations are ongoing, and assistance is being provided to the affected.
Recently, Odesa has experienced significant flooding, forcing local schools to switch to online learning. Difficult weather conditions threaten the safety of children, so it is important to follow the recommendations of authorities during natural disasters.
