Stormy Weather Sends Odesa Taxi Fares Soaring, with Cross-City Trips Now Over 300 Hryvnias.
Adverse Weather Triggers Sharp Rise in Odesa Taxi Fares
According to Novyny.live: As of January 31, 2026, taxi ride costs in Odesa have surged significantly. The price hike, driven by severe weather conditions, means trips between popular districts now exceed 300 hryvnias. This spike highlights how quickly extreme weather can disrupt urban transport economics.
For instance, a journey from the Tairova district to Deribasivska Street now costs between 352 and 360 hryvnias, far above normal rates. A ride from Arkadia to Deribasivska is approximately 228 hryvnias, while a trip from the city center to the Peresyp district reaches about 322 hryvnias.
- The base fare for hailing a car ranges from 55 to 80 hryvnias.
- The average price per kilometer fluctuates between 10 and 19 hryvnias.
These substantial tariff adjustments are a direct result of the unfavorable weather, which has severely impacted transportation services across the city.
The surge in Odesa's taxi fares following the deterioration in weather underscores the transport sector's vulnerability to external factors.
Such changes could affect the mobility of city residents, especially when other forms of public transport may be unable to provide adequate service. Consequently, it is important to monitor further tariff changes and the state of the city's road infrastructure.
