Scheduled Maintenance on Odesa’s Power Grid

According to Novyny.live: Odesa is experiencing temporary blackouts and disruptions to its electric transit system as planned maintenance work on energy equipment gets underway. The repairs are scheduled for June 28, running from 08:00 to 18:00. During this window, portions of the Kyivskyi and Prymorskyi districts, along with select settlements in the Odesa district, will be without electricity.

Between 08:00 and 12:30, critical infrastructure may face intermittent operations. Due to the power outages, several electric transport routes have been altered:

  • Tram No. 18 will continue running only as far as the 11th station of Velykyi Fontan.
  • Route No. 7 will operate between the Shkilnyi residential area and 28-y Bryhady Street.
  • Trolleybuses No. 7 and No. 12 will terminate at Independence Square.
  • Tram No. 27 service has been temporarily suspended.

Second Phase of Repairs and Alternative Options

A second phase of construction has also started at the intersection of Vodoprovidna Street and Vysokyi Lane. For context, the current electricity rate in Odesa is 4.32 UAH per kWh. A ride on a tram or trolleybus costs 15 UAH, while a marshrutka (minibus) fare is 25 UAH.

The launch of new regional train No. 838/837 connecting Odesa and Karolino-Buhaz offers an additional travel option for residents and visitors during these transit changes.

While the planned energy equipment upgrades aim to improve long-term power reliability, they have caused temporary inconvenience across the city. Residents should review the revised transit routes, as these changes may affect daily commutes. The introduction of the regional train service also provides a practical alternative, potentially easing pressure on the electric transport network during this period.
