Nobel laureates expressed support for Ukraine

Two Nobel Prize winners in Physics, Ferenc Krausz and Serge Haroche, visited Ukraine to support the country. They spoke about their responsibility towards the scientific community and all of humanity. During their visit to Ukraine, the laureates gave lectures and participated in discussions at Kyiv and Kharkiv National Universities. They also visited a damaged building of one of the universities, a school underground near the front, and a children's hospital in Kyiv.

The laureates brought a petition from 120 Nobel Prize winners, which was handed over to Oleksandra Matviichuk, the head of the 'Center for Civil Liberties.' The petition expresses solidarity with Ukraine and calls for financial compensation from Russian sanctioned assets for the recovery and support of those affected by the war.

This is not the first time that Nobel laureates have expressed support for Ukraine. In March 2024, dozens of laureates signed an open letter to world leaders calling for increased aid to Ukraine and not to recognize Putin's re-election as President of Russia.
