Ukrainian Businessman Yermolayev Accuses Military Intelligence of Monaco Attack, Demands Probe.
The Monaco Explosion
According to Espreso.tv: Ukrainian entrepreneur Vadym Yermolayev was caught in an explosion in Monaco in late June. The blast occurred on June 29 as he walked past an explosive device alongside his wife Anna and their 13-year-old son. Anna Yermolayeva suffered severe injuries, while their son sustained burns and fractures. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. Yermolayev has accused specific officers from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry of orchestrating an assassination attempt against him.
Key Suspect and Aftermath
Anastasiia Berezovska, 39, is the primary suspect in the case, and a European arrest warrant has already been issued for her. After the explosion, Yermolayev was hospitalized in Marseille, with his condition improving by July 4. Meanwhile, Anna Yermolayeva was taken to Pasteur Hospital in Nice, where she remains in critical condition. The couple’s son is out of danger.
Yermolayev stated,
“We are convinced that GUR officers are directly involved in this assassination attempt,”and emphasized that
“this is a matter of international security and trust in state institutions.”He has called for an international investigation and requested protection for his family members. Expressing his shock, he noted,
“Our survival is a miracle.”
This incident has sparked widespread media and public debate, raising concerns about the safety of Ukrainian citizens abroad and trust in Ukraine’s state institutions. The allegations against GUR officers could seriously damage the agency’s reputation and necessitate a thorough investigation—not only into this case but also into the broader security of Ukrainian business figures and their families on the international stage.
