Russian Strikes on Odesa Enter Sixth Straight Day: Educational Facility Hit, City Declares Day of Mourning.

According to UATV: For the sixth consecutive day, Russian forces have been relentlessly attacking the city of Odesa. A recent strike damaged an educational institution, prompting the city to observe a day of mourning for three people killed in a missile attack on July 15. This ongoing assault underscores the escalating intensity of the conflict in southern Ukraine.
In the latest wave of attacks, an educational facility suffered significant damage, including one classroom and a production workshop. According to Stanislav Kupchiy, the 'Maritime Practice' classroom was 'completely destroyed.' He added that 'the latest generation equipment for welding work' was also heavily damaged. Kupchiy further stated that the building is 'about 80% inoperable,' with 'blown-out windows, and partially destroyed roof and walls.'
The facility's cafeteria was also hit, with furniture, walls, and windows obliterated. Serhiy Shcherbakov reported that 'the windows were damaged the most—they blew out—and the ceilings and walls are damaged; every room has damage.' At the time of the attack, only a security guard was present, who was unharmed, as cadets were on summer break.
Rising Strike Intensity
On July 16, the Russian military launched a massive barrage against Ukraine, including:
- 8 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles,
- 4 Kh-22/32 cruise missiles,
- 1 Kh-31P anti-radiation missile,
- 5 'Banderol' loitering munitions, and
- 146 attack drones.
This escalation in strike intensity is causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The sustained assault on Odesa and the scale of damage point to a sharp escalation in Russia's military aggression, with extensive damage to civilian infrastructure that threatens local education and social services. The situation remains critical, and continued attacks risk further casualties and a deepening humanitarian crisis.
